Have you ever felt like you wanted your bedroom to look…well…different? But maybe you can’t afford a huge remodeling project right now. Well lucky for you, I’m going to show you how to update your bedroom in 5 easy steps!
We all want a new look now and then, the same old stuff gets BORING. And I don’t know about you, but a complete overhaul isn’t within our means at this time.
The good news is that you can give your space an updated look, even on a budget. That’s the beauty of the list below, you can spend as much or as little as you’re able to on the items suggested.

Here are a few quick and easy ways to update your bedroom, without a lot of hassle and fuss.
Change Your Comforter
This is probably the easiest update of all and yet can change the whole focus of your room. When you get a new comforter or bedspread, you can easily switch out a few more things to match that will transform your room into an entirely different space.
Install New Lighting
This can be an easy fix as well. Sure, you can add track lighting, but changing your main light plus adding either standing or nightstand lamps will not only help brighten up your room, but add style and flair to it as well. (Chandelier, anyone?)
Lay a Rug
Now you can replace the entire carpet if you want, but this can be expensive. Not to mention you might not have carpet in the first place. But you don’t have to, a simple throw rug is all you need to alter the design of your bedroom.
This might take a little more muscle if you’re wanting to center the rug under your bed, but it’s totally do able. Or add smaller rugs strategically placed around your floor: in front of your dressers, on both sides of the bed, in front of a chair, bench or armoire.
Get New Decor
Now this is the good stuff! Adding your favorite style of collectibles, pillows, candles, and whatever else tickles your fancy is a sure way to update your bedroom effortlessly. This can be done inexpensively by shopping at places that sell home decor at reasonable prices. My favorites are Home Goods, Ross Dress for Less (you’ll have to go to their website and use their store locator to find the store nearest you, they don’t sell online) and Jane.com.
Hang Pictures and Wall Hangings
Again, super easy ways to change the look of your room on the cheap…or spend a lot, depending on your budget. You can use family pictures, pictures of your favorite places or things, even unique and original wall hangings.
Another favorite of mine is to put up small shelving or curios to house some of that new home decor.
There you have it, Wa-la! Use this list to help you update your bedroom. Even if you can’t change everything all at once, you’ll be amazed at what a huge difference even a couple small changes can make!
