There’s nothing like a cozy living room, but finding ways to make your living room feel cozy might seem impossible without a total house makeover.

There are a few simple things you can do to up your coziness level in your living room, whether you have a little or a lot to spend.
Having the right living room decor can make or break a space. Here’s what I recommend to help give your living room that cozy feeling.
Lots of Throws
If you know me, it’s no secret that I love throw blankets! We have tons of them at our house…in the closet, on our blanket rack, and on the back of every couch I own. One thing I love about throws is that they come in all colors, patters, fabrics and sizes.
I always have enough throws in our living room for every member of our household. And when evening comes and we watch T.V. together, we all grab our cozy blankets and enjoy the evening. Nothing makes a living room feel more cozy than a throw blanket, in my humble opinion.
I think this Pallet Ladder would be a great addition to any living room!
Pillows are great, because they not only help a room feel cozy but they also get used quite a bit (at our house they do, anyway). Choosing the right decorative pillow can definitely add a feeling of comfort to your living room. And they have such pretty ones!
Choose pillows that match your couch, wall colors, or accent pieces in your room. If you want. Or, just choose whatever you like and call it good! I personally think any style of pillow makes a couch feel more cozy.
Minimizing the clutter in your space, especially if it’s a small space, will help the room feel more inviting. Nothing makes me want to run away faster than a cluttered space. I don’t know about you but I definitely don’t feel like putting up my feet and sticking around awhile.
I try to use containers- bowls, trays, baskets, even shelves, whenever I can to hold the trinkets and things that wind up sitting on the entertainment center or entry table. Try to hang photos rather than setting them on a coffee or end table. And if you have kids or pets, have a small toy box in the corner of the room in case you have to scoop up a few toys at the last minute.
I miss having a rocking chair in my home. I rocked all of my babies in the same blue rocking chair, we had it forever, until it finally fell apart. We’ve also had a several gliders, which I also enjoyed with my babies. There’s nothing like rocking in a rocking chair on a cold winter’s day with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand. (Sounds like a Norman Rockwell painting or something!)
What goes better with a rocking chair, especially the glider type, than an ottoman? Nothing (except for hot chocolate!). Sometimes you can get an ottoman that matches your glider or rocking chair. We recently got a second one for our living room as I don’t like using the recliner in our sectional (I can’t lie back!) and the top lifts so we have additional storage as well. Pretty nifty if you ask me!
Inspiring Wall Hangings
I think pictures and wall hangings can do an awful lot to a room. Put up a loud, boisterous print and you’ve got a party space. Put up a clean scenic print or inspirational text, and you’ve got yourself a cozy and inspiring living room.
Well there you have it, the best ways I know to make your living room cozy. What do you think makes a room cozy and comfortable? I’d love to hear what you think, leave a comment below.
