Whether you're headed out on vacation or you just have to go on a lengthy outing, if you're bringing the kids along then you'll want to have a few activities planned (not to mention tricks up your sleeve!).
We're here to help! We've come up with a list of 7 Ways to Entertain Your Kids on Long Car Trips. Check out these ideas:
- Pack the Art Supplies
Bringing along coloring books or paper and crayons is a sure way to occupy a little time. Have a list of people who would all want a picture from your child, and let them make a beautiful work of art for each one!
- Look for Objects
You can turn just about anything into a game with young kids, especially. Looking for everyday objects can be fun (and challenging) when you're speeding down the highway. Things like trees, road signs, stores and restaurants are some great options.
- Count the Colored Cars
This was a favorite of our family when I was growing up and we traveled across the state to visit my grandparents. Everyone picks their favorite color and looked for cars and trucks in their respective colors. Some lucky kid always chooses white! 🙂
- I Spy
My kids love this game, we even play it at home…but it's super fun on long car trips! The only challenge is that it has to be played super fast as you're whizzing by all the scenery, but that's also the excitement of it!
