Reasons to Buy a Used Car if you Have Kids
Kids Are Messy
Buying a used car can make for a more relaxing travel experience with children. Let’s face it, when you get that new car, you’re worried about making sure it stays in brand new shape for as long as possible. I know for me, it’s more stressful to have to remind the kids that we don’t eat in the car, and if I do allow it once in awhile, to worry about spills, crumbs and wrappers.
Now I’m not saying that you can’t take care of a used car or that you won’t find one in good shape. Of course you’ll want to take care of whatever car you own. But there’s still something about having a new car that makes me worry about it more. Since becoming a parent, I prefer having a little less stress by owning a used car.
Better on Your Budget
When you buy a used car, you can save in many areas. Not only will the price of the car itself be cheaper, but you won’t spend as much on car insurance either. Lower payments and less money down means more money in your pocket. That will likely go, you guessed it, on your kids!
Something to Pass Down
No matter what age your kids are now, there’s one thing that’s certain: They will get older eventually. And that probably means that they’ll want a car for themselves. Buying a used car can mean that when the time comes, you can pass it down to them. That is, if it’s been kept in decent shape. Then, finally, mom and dad might get to go out and get that new car you’ve been dreaming about for years!
What do you think, should you buy a used car if you have kids? Leave us a comment below, would love to hear your thoughts.
Remember life doesn't have to be perfect to love where you are!
