The kids are in the pool (AGAIN) and although you regularly join them, some days you just want your make up to stay put the entire day. So why not use this time you’re watching over your little angels (uh-huh, as they’re screaming at the top of their lungs and fighting) to enjoy a good book and maybe even learn a thing or two?

I know everyone has different interests, so of course feel free to head over to Amazon or your local book store and pick up whatever suits your fancy. But for this work at home mom, here are a few books that I’ve either enjoyed reading myself or that are on my list of what to get next.
If you’ve ever tried blogging (or want to) then this book is a must-read. Filled with practical, actionable advice for bloggers, this plus Ruth’s course Elite Blogging Academy are responsible for helping to shape the careers of some of the biggest name bloggers.
Crystal Paine is a legend in her own right. Her blog Money Saving Mom has not only changed her life, but the lives of countless other moms by giving them the know-how and resources they need to save money. She’s also a great example of what you can accomplish as a blogger with persistence and determination.
Chris shows you how to lead a life of adventure, meaning and purpose, all while earning a good living. He’s visited more countries than I ever will, and has tons of great advice on not only business and earning money but also finding work that’s meaningful and following your passion.
I have to admit, Jeff is one of my favorite authors and bloggers, and not just because I’m in his book! (I’m at the bottom of the Reader Reviews page!) 🙂 This book is about discovering your life’s work, the task you were born to do, and how to live a life that matters with true passion and purpose.
To me, Jeff is relatable. Plus the fact that he looks like Luke Skywalker makes me giggle, and I’m not even a huge Star Wars fan.
This one is definitely on my poolside book list this summer. It’s no secret that Shark Tank is one of my favorite shows (it held the top spot before I was introduced to HGTV, now I swoon over shows about living on the beach and Chip and Jo have me convinced I need to move to Texas and let them fix up a house for me) and I love that Daymond seems so down-to-earth. Anyone who titles his book ‘The Power of Broke’ obviously remembers what it was like to be that way, and can certainly relate with those of us who are still there.
I have to admit, Barb is my favorite Shark! Reading her life story was so inspiring, she managed to take a $1000 and build a Billion dollar business. She credits much of her success to her upbringing and the life lessons she learned from her stay at home mom, which should be an inspiration to stay at home moms everywhere. I even have a signed copy of this book, which is one of my most prized possessions.
Another book by Chris, this one more about finding work you were meant to do (notice a pattern here? I do a lot of soul searching apparently). Chris has created a practical guide to finding your perfect job and will help you find the intersection of joy, money and flow. This is another one on my summer reading list!
Since its release in 1936, this book has sold more than 15 million copies! It’s a timeless bestseller packed with rock-solid advice that can help you achieve your maximum potential in this modern age. I’ve just started reading this and I’m excited to get more into it!
Mike’s humorous approach to all things business might not be for everyone, but this fun loving mama loved it (I think I missed my calling as a comedienne, to be honest…that’s what I tell myself to make me feel good anyway). But don’t worry, this book is all business (even though the tone is humorous) and filled with relevant business advice from someone who has founded three multi-million dollar companies… so yeah, he knows what he’s talking about.
There really are a ton of great books out there, and I could have made this list much longer. But alas, the kids are ready to get out of the pool so it’s off to bring the towels I go!
